For some players, gambling is seen as an addiction. Some see it as release from stress and some just find it fun. The thing is poker can be both fun and profitable. It all depends on the players outlook.

Gambling always contains risk and the chances of one winning is uncertain. The odds change very so often and it is never fixed but always fluctuating. The end goal of gambling is essentially the same: getting something at the end of the game.

Some people believe that direct gambling is bad and immoral but when the principle of choice is applied to a situation, it may change drastically. For example: a company is failing in it's profit for the year. There is no assurance that it would right itself again. If one tries to revive it, is that not a form of gambling? Is one using resources on something that is not certain? How different is it with gambling?

Gambling has many factors. The first factor is the wager. The wager can come in different forms. It can be cash or a piece of information. The second factor is the amount decided for the wager. An empty wager is worth nothing and no one would ever consider taking it up. Most gambling amounts are usually in form of cash but can include other physical forms like sex or companionship.

Predictability is the next factor. One does not know the chances of winning but when looking at the circumstances of thew game, one can more or less see the possibilities of winning. A player who knows more about the game and more about the odds in them, one can render a more decisive judgment.

The payoff is the last factor in gambling. One should have an idea of the item or things that win be won if the chances push through. If items like cash is the payoff, one can actually make the payoff a precise amount but if in other forms, it is hard to measure.

Gambling is a process that novices should know more about. Once they realize the value of the payout then all the more they would harder to attain it. Many novices have often ignored the basics of gambling and poker. What happens is that they get caught up in their game that they fail to see the concept of fun as part of the process. Fun makes the games more enjoyable and more endearing.
